Problems downloading files in internet explorer 11
Check that you meet the minimum operating system requirements and have the prerequisites installed. Try another IE11 installer. This log file has information about each installation and is appended for each subsequent installation. If Internet Explorer doesn't finish installing, it might mean that Windows Update wasn't able to install an associated update, that you have a previous, unsupported version of IE installed, or that there's a problem with your copy of IE. We recommend you try this:.
No jargon. Pictures helped. Didn't match my screen. Incorrect instructions. Too technical. In that case, you may receive one of the following error messages:. To resolve this issue, install the most recent cumulative security update for Internet Explorer.

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed in the "Applies to" section. Tried to do a reset of IE Try uninstalling IE11 which will roll you back to IE Then see if you can download something.
If so, reinstall IE11 and see if that solves the problem. And a lot of us don't use IE at all. I haven't used it for years. So if other browsers work, I'm not sure why anyone would insist on using IE.
Posted 27 November - PM. I have tried to roll back to IE 10 but it won't let me. I disabled EI altogether and inabled it and still does the same thing. But unfortunately the recommended solution didn't fix our PCs. I want to make sure and clarify that you did try this in your GPO? This is what solved the issue for me after spending 6 mos trying all kinds of other suggested fixes.
None of our Win7 PCs has experienced this issue yet so after several weeks of troubleshooting, this is the only solution we have. The company needs that PC to be working not to mention it's in a new area that has high visibility from upper mgmt so at this point we had no other choice.
I'm going to keep the Win10 PC at my desk for further testing as I'm not ready to throw the towel in just yet. I've been having this issue as well on all my PC's that have been upgraded to I also tried the suggested GPO with no luck I even tried disabling it as well. I'm honestly surprised there aren't more threads on this, as my usual "Google-Fu" is coming up empty.
Whenever possible I try and get the users to switch to chrome or firefox, but this isn't always a possibility with some legacy sites. I think I may have found a solution. I've tried it on three of the systems where this issue was continually happening and thus far all of them have been fixed.
It looks like the problem stems from a corrupted download history and all that is needed to resolve it is to clear the download history in the "delete browsing history" screen. Original Thread. Are you sure it wasn't the reboot that actually fixed it? And you stated that you've done a full reset of IE in the past - correct me if I'm wrong, but wouldn't that clear the download history as well?
I hope you're right and that you've found a solution for your environment, but a corrupted download history seems like it would be isolated to one PC as opposed to a shared issue. I'm pretty confident I've cleared all these settings before, but I don't distinctly remember checking 'download history' so I'm going to give it a shot. At this point I wouldn't rule anything out. I rebooted after clearing the download history and it's working now, but that's normal for us as a reboot temporarily fixes it.
The true test for our environment will be when I check it tomorrow, since it usually breaks again by the next morning.
I agree with you that resetting IE should have taken care of the issue, and in about half my cases it did. I know rebooting alone wasn't enough because like most other IT folk, that's my "go-to" step 1 whenever a user calls.
